Le Havre is located on the right bank of the Seine, which here has a width of 5 km in the estuary, in the Northwest of France. With just under 200,000 inhabitants it is the largest of the city of Normandy and has the second largest harbour of the country.
Originally founded in Le Havre in 1517 as a naval port and is one of the relatively young cities in France. Throughout its history, Le Havre was scene of many wars, including the long-running Huguenot war, which, however, could not stop the permanent rise of the city. Already in 1814, it is already home of 32 steamers. Because of their generous equipment and boulevards, Le Havre was used but always as a spa and resort. Since 2005, the city belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage site.
Today Le Havre has lady from the sixteenth century, as well as the Church of Saint Joseph in particular its historical buildings, such as the Cathedral of Notre with their construction in the 11th century and buildings of contemporary architecture. The latter come primarily from the pen of significant architects August Perret, which determine the modern centre of the city today. Le Havre is also considered the birthplace of Impressionism, and at the Musée of des Beaux Arts, Malraux, you will find the second largest collection of Impressionist art in very France.

Interesting targets mouth, the impressive Casino and the Pont de Normandie, which spans over the River in the picturesque next to the port of long beach of the Seine.
