A typical Namibian mining town from the colonial period, close to the northern border is located Tsumeb. In our latitudes, especially by the German colonial policy at the end of the 19th century / early 20th century is known. The first mines in the region were built at this time, to reduce the natural resources and then to move to Europe. In addition to copper and ores, many more abbauwürdige minerals can be found in the area around Tsumeb.
The climate in Tsumeb is quite pleasant in comparison to other points in Namibia, by an annual average rainfall of up to 600 mm / m² is possible even agriculture. Without rental car coming in Tsumeb but not very far, most of the attractions and places of interest are far apart, so that inevitably requires a wheeled mount. For nature and animal lovers of Etosha worth visiting national parks, where the rhinos, Impala, and other rare animals in the wild can be observed on a Safari.
In the actual town of Tsumeb, worth a visit of the town museum, where the city's history is clearly worked up. The old mine offers a good view of the recovery methods in the last century, on guided tours through the mine, there to learn a lot. Just outside of Tsumeb is the Lake of Guinea, which is suited excellently for relaxing, swimming or fishing.
