Viña del Mar is a town in the metropolitan area of the Chilean city of Valparaíso. City approximately 300,000 inhabitants lies on a beautiful Bay on the Chilean coast and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America.

Viña del Mar is known as a seaside resort far beyond the borders of Chile and has very nice beaches, which are visited by tourists from all over Chile, but also from other States of also increasingly Europe and South America in the summer months.

The city with its beautiful palm-lined avenues and promenades, cozy cafes and restaurants, as well as the nightclubs and bars offers the visitor a rich cultural programme. So, many nationally known festivals take place in January and February the peak season.

Viña del Mar is also well known for its numerous parks, which are very generous. The flower clock, the landmark of this tourist center is located in one of these parks. A panoramic Hill which can be scaled by level rises directly on this flower clock. From there one has a beautiful view on the whole city of Viña of del Mar, and the entire Bay of Valparaiso. Not far from the Botanical Garden (Jardín Botánico) with a variety lies on plants and the Parque Sausalito with a large man-made lake.

Viña del Mar is excellent also as a starting point for excursions to the near Valparaiso, or in the outskirts of this metropolis. To be independent before timetables of public transport, a rental car, which can be rented at favourable conditions often is highly recommended.
