Almada is a town well with 100,000 inhabitants in the Middle Portugal, at the mouth of the Tagus in the Atlantic Ocean. The first settlement on the ground of the modern city dates from the time when the Arabs most of the Iberian Peninsula, hence Portugal, ruled. At the time, this place was mentioned as Al-Madan.
When the Christians recaptured the area the town was renamed in Almada.
